Considering that we spend 24 hours a day in the same building, the Swede Towers Venn diagram of musical obsessions doesn't overlap as much as you might think. The tuneful taste-buds of Mrs S & I are often complementary, but rarely absolutely identical. Currently, however, we are in complete agreement, sharing an ear-worm that gets us both throwing ill-advised shapes around the kitchen when we reconvene for lunch. Congolese singer, songwriter and rapper Baloji has a substantial catalogue of fine music under his belt and is currently signed to Bella Union, who released the '64 bits & Malachite' EP in November. From it, the tune that Mrs S & I can't get enough of is 'Spoiler'. Be prepared to be hooked.

Mr SDS and I have had similar tastes throughout most of our relationship (with a few curveballs which we each throw in from time to time). But, although we still have a fair amount of common ground, recently there's been a bit more of a divide too (and probably not in the way you'd expect), so it sometimes leads to some heated debates....
Mind you after all these decades at least we still have something to talk about!

As I read your post I assumed I would get to the bottom and read a slew of comments from disgruntled spouses. C and her significant other seem to have it working. I guess it's up to me to get things started. Actually, Mrs. LTL and I have similar tastes from our youth. It helps when we are the same age and have been a couple since high school. My love of Scritti Politti, however, has had my bride close to filing papers in divorce court. I tried to sneak them in early last Saturday morning when I had them on in the kitchen, but she woke up. Let's just say that wasn't how she wanted to start the day. In recent years, we have gone in completely different directions musically. Her Scritti revenge is when she uses the car and listens to "the hits" on mainstream radio. When she turns off the car, she doesn't turn off the radio. Later, when I get in and turn the key, the radio blares Top 40 at very high volume. Eventually I will break the steering wheel with all of the shaking I give it in the driveway.
Mrs S's preference is to make herself a playlist of a few favourite tunes of the moment and play that small selection on repeat ad infinitum. This is my idea of hell. Very occasionally I'll get stuck on an album if I'm REALLY into it, but my usual aim is to get through as much varied and different listening as the hours of the day will allow. Generally our taste buds are similar (give or take the odd curve-ball) and neither of us go for contemporary Top 40 radio - thankfully!

I hope this lot make it over for our music festival this summer. As for musical tastes, mine and my partner's have very little overlap. (I won't have her Best Of U2 CD in the music room.)

Yep- I'll have a bit of that.
It's a very catchy song, reminding me a bit to Kid Creole back in the 80's. From former times I know that it is hard sometimes to have the same preferences as your partner. We both agreed on funky jazzy sounds, some 70's soul and good voices. But it took a long way to get a musical room of my own way back then.

Like the Venn diagram analogy - It feels like that in our house too sometimes although we also have a third party in darling daughter so an even more complicated diagram.
