Saturday Scratch #39
If the family bathroom was ever out of action
when I was a wee nipper, I would have to
endure what Mum would call 'a wash down'.
This involved standing in a washing-up bowl
on the kitchen floor, while she poured
lukewarm water over my head and scrubbed me
with a rough flannel. We're experiencing an
uncannily similar, if slightly more grown-up, version of the same thing at the moment. The
bathroom is currently a building site as
walls are insulated, windows replaced, tiles
laid and, hopefully sometime late next week,
a new suite is installed. To be honest, I'm a
a bit long in the tooth for all this wash
down malarkey (dousing oneself in water at the
kitchen sink ain't what it's cracked up to
be), but I know it'll all be worth it in the
end.

Good luck, sir. Hope you have the bathroom of your dreams or, at least, one that is all that you could hope for. The interim period sounds tricky, though.
Thanks Mr Bear, it's good to hear from you. The interim period is indeed a bit tricky, particularly when you take into account that the currently non-existent bathroom is also home to our only toilet.
Oh - I feel your pain! Lots of luck to you!
Your bathroom looks and sounds much like ours did recently. We were lucky enough to be able to use our neighbour's house for ablutions for one week, so that was something, but the whole process was still hard-going. It WAS worth it although we're still waiting for a new floor), and yours will undoubtedly be too!
Kitchen next - we must be masochists.
What you should do is wash up as far as possible, then wash down as far as possible....then wash possible.
Thanks C - kitchen next year!
Old Pa. Good advice!
