Farewell Caped Crusader

Just as Roger Moore would later be my 007 and Tom Baker my Dr Who, so, a few years earlier, Adam West was my Batman. It's interesting to reflect that all three actors approached their respective roles with a knowing nod and wink, something utterly compelling to this young viewer. I was so obsessed with the Batman TV show from 1966-68 that, thanks to my parents, for my 7th birthday, I actually became the Caped Crusader! If you know me at all, you won't be surprised to learn that I still own components of the Bat-uniform in the photo (the hood, mask and shirt), rediscovered in the loft when I was clearing Mum's house several years ago - although, unfortunately, I appear to have outgrown them in the intervening 50 years.

Rest easy Adam.

Haha, brilliant! The pic has made my morning!
Clearly there was absolutely no doubt in your mind at that moment that everyone who saw you would know they were looking at the real Batman.
Even with those shoes :-)

What a great pic - Yes I too still have a loft full of such things and I dread the day they will have to go. Adam was Batman, end of - The later films just didn't do it for me at all.

Thanks for sharing that photo, Swede. The show was a little before my time, but he was still my Batman through reruns every summer vacation during lunch. Pow!

Great photo.

What I find interesting is that we're almost a generation apart, yet all three of the actors you name were central to my own childhood too. Partly that's down to repeats or the length of time the actors inhabited the role (particularly Moore and Baker), but I find it hard to believe that kids ten years apart these days would share the same cultural reference points. It all moves / changes so much faster nowadays.
