I'm currently grooving to 'Haiti Direct, Big Band, Mini Jazz & Twoubadou Sounds, 1960-1978', a fantastic new compilation from Strut, 28 slices of mambo, merengue and much more besides. I'm still getting my head around the sheer quality of this treasure trove, but try 'Pile Ou Face' by Les Loups Noirs from 1972, a tune which left me unsure whether I should get up and dance or run screaming from the room. An extraordinary piece of music.

You are totally right! I want this record. I'm guessing this band is no longer functioning but if they were they would easily qualify as the 'Second Greatest Band In The World'. Love it. Will be checking out the album and hoping to purchase some time.
It's not all as...erm far-out as this, but it is all of a very high quality. To paraphrase Robbie, I get to the end and I start all over again.
Didn't expect to like this in all honesty - but it's rather suiting my groove this morning and I thank you for opening my mind! Heads or Tails? Heads it is.
Wow! that was excellent! second best band in the world except for .....etc. etc.
