There are many good things about the easy access to music that we enjoy today. I want it. I got it. Quick as that. I can order a physical album without leaving my keypad, I can stream entire catalogues in any number of ways, or I can purchase and download individual tunes or complete recorded works in seconds. The problem with the latter comes when a stray tune hits the hard drive, is played and enjoyed for a while, before being lost in an anonymous folder on my computer. Which happens a lot.
In this occasional series I'll be scouring my D and G drives, unearthing half-forgotten gems along the way.
(I'm heading out of town for a few days. Should be back in action on Wednesday.)

Totally spiffing tune! Never heard it before, to my knowledge. Fab photo, too. Of course, the Decca single is most likely to be a gem by Val Doonican. I reckon one of those sleeves is from the Mercury label, so I'm praying it's 'A Walk In The Black Forest', which would sound dead groovy on their system.

Great pic Tim Rose does great version of the song....just a thought TS...it is difficult to loose somthing you have always got search engine facility....or are we talking about puting somthing in a folder and just forgetting it is there.

Erik. No ciggy! I knew something was missing. We used to have a radiogram very similar to the one pictured. It was a fantastic piece of furniture that I wish was still in the family. Hi-fi's pushing it a bit though!
Old Pa. When I first started downloading individual tracks from blogs at the end of the 90s and early 00s, I was terrible at organising my folders. Hence I've got all manner of stuff lurking, unloved or forgotten on various hard drives. This feature is helping me to rediscover some of it.
