The Wave Pictures pause promotional duties for their latest LP 'Bamboo Diner In The Rain' to pay homage to the great Wilko Johnson, by way of a six track 10" EP, 'Canvey Island Baby', scheduled for release this week on the Acuarela label. The EP contains interpretations of five of Wilko's own songs (including the classic 'Back in the Night') plus a title track freshly written by David Tattersall of the band, which gives a hefty, lovingly observed nod in the direction of the seminal Dr Feelgood sound.

Wow they really have captured that wonderful Wilko Johnson guitar sound (made me think of Dr Feelgood with Edwyn Collins on vocals!) A very heartwarming homage.
C's description is spot on!
I love the Wave Pictures. And I love Doctor Feelgood; what's not to like? Thanks for the pointer TS.
David Tattersall is an exceptional guitarist. Check out his solo LP from 2012 - it sounds like a lost John Fahey recording.
Sorry, but a big thumbs down from me. The Wave Pictures (how I love them so) are The Wave Pictures and are definitely NOT a covers band.
