Monday Long Song
Time for writing is short, but fortunately this week's tune is long, and magnificent. It's recently been noted elsewhere what a very good year for music 1981 was. Produced by Martin Hannett, 'The Presence' is not only Crispy Ambulance's finest 13 minutes, but, in my opinion, is up there with the finest music to emerge from anyone in 1981.

Sadly C.A. were an underrated and almost forgotten band Swede. The Presence shows them at the peak of their ablities.
A much underrated band. Top choice today Swede.
Television and VU would give it a run for the money, but this might well be my favorite in this entire series... from any blog.
For a long time I thought "Crispy Ambulance" was just a fake band name in a Half Man Half Biscuit song. I'm still not quite convinced that isn't so.
A track that pushed Post Punk forward in a big way. There's a wonderful density of layers in the music, while retaining an improvisational quality.
