Saturday Scratch #33 - Zap Pow

We came unstuck on Thursday, as we attempted to maintain our Boxing Day tradition of pub lunch followed by a bracing coastal walk. This year I chose a remote country pub a little inland, to be followed by a 2 mile walk along a nearby river, through a nature reserve, onto the beach and beyond. Lunch was delish, but it soon became apparent that we weren't going to get very far along our chosen route. I hadn't taken into account the residue from the recent dreadful flooding in our part of the world. We were quickly overwhelmed as pathways, fields and the river merged into one vast watery expanse before us. Ah well, there's always next year.

Boxing Day Blues - Too wet to walk...

Recorded at the Black Ark in 1977, here's Zap Pow, produced by Lee Perry, with their own, haunting, 'River'.

I hope you'll find an excuse to do that excursion a bit sooner than next Boxing Day. It sounds lovely - and looks beautiful in the photograph, even if not exactly walkable at the moment!

You might say 'Too Many Rivers to Cross'...sorry about that!...I like these little traditions....every 1st of Jan for over 40 years now we always have roast beef served in a rich tomato sauce along with pasta...Shellhunter and Flycasual are carrying on the tradition....a good subject for a post..'little traditions!'

Thanks C. Believe it or not I've been meaning to visit that particular pub for over 30 years! I'm sure we'll get back there soon.

Roast beef with pasta? You're right about us each having our own little traditions. Sounds like a plan. I'll have a think & see if I can remember any others. John shared a nice one a couple of weeks ago here
