Friday Photo #15

Many of my early family photos were taken in one of two places - by the lean-to in the back garden or on the front doorstep. These were the two closest points to being indoors, while actually being outside the house and using available daylight - each flashbulb cost money in those days and was usable only once. Consequently both these locations may turn up with some regularity as this series progresses. Here's one from the doorstep, taken in 1965. I don't know what Dad said that was so funny, but he certainly captured my reaction to perfection.

Here's an appropriately titled tune from 'Free Dirt', the 1986 debut LP by Died Pretty. The Australian band were responsible for one of my absolute favourite songs of the 1980s, which I shared here a while back. Go check it out if you haven't already.

Oh that's a great track, not heard before. Love your satchel, and oh, those T-bar shoes!

That;s a brilliant photo, and I want that satchel!

Best photo yet. Quite a contrast in styles (and not just dress) when I see pics of my own kids at the front door readying themselves for the first day of school. I never ever saw them that happy. Brilliant.

You do need a new one!

Thanks guys. I thought the satchel might go down well. I actually rediscovered it in the loft when clearing the house after Mum died and donated it. Kind of regretting that now!

Funnily enough, I'm in the market for a new man bag.
Yep, the door step - much of my early early life was documented stood in front of many a front door. Keep 'em coming, TS. For contrast we need a 2021 shot of you standing outside Swede Towers with your current rucksack/holdall/duffel bag...

The sandals (Clarks or Startrite?), the satchel, the haircut - You would have blended into my school just fine. Is it me, or have you really stretched since the last picture.

John. My current bag is a boring, but functional backpack - very dull!

Alyson. It's a cropped photo, so it gives that impression. Having said that, one of my occasional growth spurts was just around the corner.
