Many happy returns to Neneh Cherry, born on this day in 1964. I've accumulated quite a few of her records over the years, from Rip Rig & Panic and Float Up CP to her successful solo career and beyond. Her 1981 guest appearance with The New Age Steppers, on the infectious 'My Love', was the first though. That's the late great Bim Sherman sharing vocal duties with Neneh.

"My Love", to these old ears, is so out of tune, it set my teeth on edge - but maybe that was the idea. ;-) ;-)
Love Neneh - happy birthday indeed :)
Did I once tell you how Neneh, in league with Andrea Oliver, once disturbed my quiet cup of coffee by walking into Castle Bakery, Bangor and buying a bag full of doughnuts whilst dressed in full African princess regalia? I did? Well, it's a tale worth retelling. She's great and the New Age Steppers album has a special place here at Bear Towers. Happy Birthday, Neneh! More jazz, please.
Happy birthday to a great Artist that impressed me nuch during the last decades.
