There has been a slew of bands in recent years, who seem to consider the use of vowels in their moniker an unnecessary luxury. Take BNQT (pronounced Banquet) for example. BNQT are something of an indie supergroup, whose line-up draws from Midlake, Band of Horses, Grandaddy, Travis and Franz Ferdinand. Their debut LP, 'Volume 1', is due at the end of April and is introduced by the Midlake-heavy 'Restart'. (More info here)

Nice enough tune, but as CC says... and being an English teacher, this stuff is the bane of my life.
BNQT from a distance made me immediately think of the American band NRBQ, which was, at least, an abbreviation. (And made their band name SLIGHTLY more interesting than the extremely dull New Rhythm & Blues Quartet.)
I was getting job applications featuring the use of vowel-free words six or seven years ago when I was still a store manager.
On the one hand I think it's quite clever how our brains can read words without vowels (it's the only round I can occasionally score points on in 'Only Connect'!) although I'm really bored of them being used as band names now.
Weirdly, though, when I first saw this particular name I simply read it as an abbreviation, like BBC or NVQ, I think it's something about that combination of letters that doesn't spring out to me. And how does anyone know it isn't really Bonequote? (best I could do)

Yes the omission of vowels is getting a tad annoying - As C said above though I don't think this particular combination of letters really jumps out at you. Very much a supergroup with all these names from bands that even I have heard of!
